I think what it means in a nutshell is the pursuit of happiness, and thus a pursuit of some kind of freedom.

To be an American is to be thankful for the country that we have, even with its flaws (as nothing in this world is perfect), we seem to be much better off than some countries.

Even the computer won't ever be perfect as it stands...because it is made by man, and because man isn't currently perfect.

It isn't to flaunt in arrogance how great we are to other countries. No...see, I don't think that's American whatsoever. (Especially to say that we should intervene and force democracy down the throats of those unwilling.)

To be an American is to know freedom, and to be thankful for the taste that we have; to know what joy and happiness this taste can bring in our lives; to be protective for the said.

That's what I think.

However ridiculous it might sound.

I hope this was good enough.

No problem.

I actually just enjoy to voice serious opinions when I can, and when they're welcome at that.

It was actually nice to try and voice what I think that it is...because it was somewhat difficult to place into words.

To me, being an American means living in the United States of America... legally, anyway. Nobody can call themselves a "true American" or a better American than anyone else because as long as you're a citizen, you can be whoever you want to be and still be "American."

Hope that made sense... don't know if it'l help at all.
